Carlisle CARES Fund Raiser

Carlisle CARES, our area emergency shelter ministry, is sponsoring a fund raiser to benefit their important support of homeless in our community. They are “selling” 1000 numbered golf balls which will be released on October 10 from a ladder truck over a hole at the golf course. The ball in or closest to the hole wins $2,000. The ball furthest from the hole will earn $100. Other non-cash prizes will be awarded. Tickets will be sold with numbers corresponding to numbered golf balls. You do not need to be present to win. Awarded National UTO Grant

St. John's, Carlisle, has been awarded a national United Thank Offering grant. The $7,000 grant will help defray the cost of the new fence around the churchyard so that young children attending the parish preschool and Summer Program for Youth have a safe play space. St. John's is the only congregation in the Diocese to receive a 2010 UTO grant.

Preschool’s Enrollment

St. John's Preschool’s enrollment for the fall continues to grow! We are expanding to offer both morning and afternoon sessions. The enrollment for each is limited to 15 children. Please pick up one of the new color brochures at the Information Table or in the Parish Office and pass it on to a family with young children, or contact director Valerie Mast, 609-3836.

Spiritual Dimensions of Health

”Spiritual Dimensions of Health” will be offered at the Education Center of the Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, October 14- November 18. The instructors will be Professor Daniel Cozort of Dickinson College and Board Certified Holistic Nurse, Bonnie Berk. The program will be considering Spiritual Healing, Mind-Body Medicine and the use of prayer and meditation techniques for health and wellbeing. The cost is $90. Diocesan Episcopal Church Women

The annual Diocesan Episcopal Church Women retreat will take place this year at the Lafayette Hotel in Cape May, New Jersey Friday, September 24- Sunday, the 26th. The Rev. Jane Miron, deacon from St. Thomas, Lancaster, will be the retreat leader. St. John’s needs you!!

A new display in the Cloister calls our attention to some pressing ministry needs in the parish. As the display reminds us, many hands are needed to make the work light. You will find forms at the display. Please fill one out and deposit it in the adjacent box. The form gives you an opportunity to say you would serve on a committee or in a ministry of your choice and in a leadership capacity. This isn’t a time to be shy or wait to be asked! As St. John’s begins to adjust to having Mo. Robyn half time, we will need to address some leadership and committee issues. St. John’s needs you!
