The Reverend Anne Flynn, Deacon
A native of New York City, Anne spent years in the corporate world but always felt the call to ordained ministry. She came to St. John’s and the Episcopal Church in 1995 and later began a process of discernment which led her to seek ordination as a “vocational” or permanent Deacon. She completed the diocesan School of Christians Studies, Clinical Pastoral Education and served as an intern in the South Mountain church start. Anne was ordained in February 2005 in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Since ordination, she has been assigned to St. John’s, her home parish.
Deacon Anne has long been interested in social ministry and continues that work as a Deacon through community outreach including Project S.H.A.R.E. and Carlisle CARES. Anne serves on several diocesan commissions including Disaster Response Commission, Adult Education Commission, and is co-chaplain for Episcopal Church Women. In addition to her work as a Deacon at St. John’s, Anne works part-time as the associate chaplain at Bethany Village Retirement Community. Deacon Anne is married to Patrick Early and is grandmother of two.
